Concept

We began our ideation process by attempting to effectively utilize the unique characteristics of our assigned material. Furthermore, we considered the additional components – light source, style of interaction, etc. – to design a desk lamp that is both successful and aesthetically pleasing. Ultimately, after much iteration, we finalized the ‘sailboat’ lamp. The sailboat serves as the embodiment of students that are guided through obstacles with the help of our persona, SIAT academic advisor, much like a sailboat that needs direction to stay on the right path. Using a multicolour LED strip light, we intended to provide the choice for our persona to set the mood of their environment as they wish by switching color lights.
